“We’re pregnant Brooks. I’m having your baby.” My heart pounds. “Sara Langfield, say it again.” Her cheeks go rosy as her grin widens. “We’re having a baby, Brooks. We made a baby.”
“Pretty sure my brother bought every house on this street years ago and has been saving them for each one of us.”
What Beckett wants us to say is that he did the right thing. That Sienna needs to get over it. And I do think he did the right thing; it just went epically wrong. And Sienna knows that. She knows that Beckett never intended things to work out this way. That’s actually why he did what he did. But that’s a story for another day. And not my story to tell.
Me: So about that brownstone… Beckett: As I was saying, I saved the best for last.
After five years of scheming and planning, I finally have my own compound with all my favorite people, but even more than that, my kids are surrounded by a village of people who will drop everything to help them.
The idea that you make your own family. That the people you let into your day-to-day life don’t have to be blood, and sometimes, if you’re really lucky, the brothers you grew up with turn out to be your best friends too.
