This was not an adventure of my choosing, but it was still an adventure.
If I truly wanted to be in control of my destiny, then I couldn’t wait for someone else to save me from danger. The only person who was always going to fight for me was me.
Would I fail? Probably. But maybe, just maybe, I’d find a way. For myself. And for the next princess who wanted a choice.
It wasn’t the first time I’d been overlooked. It wouldn’t be the last. So when would it stop hurting? When would I stop expecting anything different?
It was every emotion, good and bad, woven into a landscape that had stolen my heart.
This was the game. The show we were all a part of now. The characters we were playing. Maybe someday, we’d all stop pretending.
