“All journeys begin with a step, Tem.”
Caspen was delicious.
She knew now what she had suspected then: it was Caspen in the dream—he had drawn her to him like a moth to a flame.
It was one thing to show Leo everything he wanted. It was another thing entirely to show him nothing at all. Besides, who was she to deny the prince? Tem smiled and reached for the black dress.
I would give you anything you asked for, Tem.
There was only this kiss, right now, with Leo.
“I find you extraordinary, Tem.”
Relax, little viper.
Caspen wanted—needed—her.
He wanted her more than life itself because a life without her wasn’t one he cared to live.
They were just two lovers, experiencing each other the way lovers should.
As they rode their waves together, Tem felt something seal itself between them—a bond that could never be broken. They belonged to each other now; there was no going back to the way things had been before they’d shared this essential, fundamental thing.
She was all his.
Leo was right. Caspen never had to know.
Tem wanted to think for herself, act for herself.
What a question.
Little viper.
Tem was thinking about all the things that were on the verge of going terribly wrong.
“Wicked, wicked girl.”
He was her other half. He was hers.
More torture. Lucky her.
“If you want things to change, you have to be the one to change them, Leo.”
It was befitting of Leo; it was torture.
A death worthy of a king, she supposed: vicious and brutal. Epic.
Yet Leo was Leo.
