Jason wrecked his daughters’ self-esteem so much that one became a bully like him and the other turned to self-harming.
“You go around asking dangerous questions, girl, you’re going to find some dangerous answers.”
“Sal was innocent. Someone killed Andie, and then they killed Sal, after making sure he’d look guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
I’m not sure I’m the good girl I once thought I was. I’ve lost her along the way.
This wasn’t safe anymore. There was no choice. But the decision felt like a shard of glass through her chest.
“You barged your way into my life, offering me this chance I never had before. You can’t take that away from me now; you know I need you. You can’t give up. This isn’t you.”
“Next you’ll be saying someone has an evil twin.”
“You killed Barney.” His face crumpled. “Pip, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t—”
Two different people. Elliot Ward wasn’t Unknown and he hadn’t killed Barney. No, that had been Andie’s real killer.
This town had too many dark corners; Pip had learned to accept she couldn’t shine a light into each and every one.
