“Promise you will never forget me.” His head tilts to the side, his eyes still holding mine captive. The dark ring surrounding his irises moves toward the center, turning the deep blue even darker. Something…more. “I’ll never forget you.” I stick my pinky out. “Pinky promise on your puck.” He links our fingers together with a smirk. “I promise.”
Because now that I’ve tasted her lips again, I’m not sure how I’m going to keep this just business. Assuming after tonight, she doesn’t tell me to go to hell. I’m fucked.
“Cassidy. What the fuck? All this time, I thought this was…that we were a sweet collide. Something big and strong and unbreakable. But this wasn’t a collide. You fucking shattered me.”
“You didn’t even remember me,” I whisper, fresh tears running down my face, forcing me to blink them away. They flow like a river, the salty taste landing on my lips. “You left me. I wasn’t even worth remembering.” “You think I forgot about you?” he sneers. “Yes.” “You think I’m that much of an asshole?” He doesn’t even give me a chance to answer. “You don’t know shit.”
“I might have not recognized her, but of course, I remembered her. She was the only bit of hope in my life.” I hold Dane’s stare. “I could never forget Pip.”
She hasn’t seen one of the most special parts of it, but then one of my players turns, and she sees the team’s name. The Pipsqueaks.
