“What’s wrong?” Dane says, pulling back slightly. “I’m scared of how much I like you.” “Ah.” He nods like he understands. “Me, too.” Now that Dane has gotten scratched from the sand, I’m noticing his sunburn. “Fuck, I shouldn’t have kept you outside so long…” He shakes his head, pushing me down and kissing me again. “I’d do the whole day over again, starting this minute, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Why do we admit the truth even though it fucking hurts? Because that’s the way it won’t kill us anymore. It is painful to admit hard truths. But it’s incredibly healing to be forgiven and loved in spite of them.
