I hate him and I can’t stop looking at him—like a venomous snake or a poisonous mushroom.
Love is a drug, especially love that blind. I thought I wanted to make her scream, but now I want to make her smile, too. It doesn’t matter what order. I want Remi to look at me like that. In fact, I just might make her.
He’s beautiful in a terrifying way, like a glacier or a sword, those golden eyes cruel as a bird of prey.
I love how intent she is on appearing strong and composed, while it’s obvious she’s completely fucked up inside. Takes one to know one, baby.
Hands are my kink—they show everything about a man’s competence. The way they move, the way they touch….a well-shaped hand resting on a steering wheel or shifting gears…I could come just thinking about it.
Dane’s face is expressionless while a thousand thoughts flicker behind his eyes. If I could read them like a book…would I open it? Yes. Every fucking time.
“I do enjoy pain in a beautiful woman. I enjoy what it does…physiologically.” He twists his fingers, making me cry out against his mouth. His lips trail down my jaw, and he presses his nose behind my ear, inhaling my scent. “The adrenaline in your sweat…” He swipes his hot tongue up the side of my neck. “The way your pupils dilate…”
“So, no, I didn’t stitch you up to help you…,” he whispers in my ear. “I did it because I want my fence fixed…and because I liked cutting off your shorts.”
“I want to know everything about you…especially the bad things you’ll do.”
“Look at yourself,” I hiss in her ear. “Look at your face. Watch how much you love this…”
He’s gorgeous like men aren’t supposed to be gorgeous—like he’s his own kind of creature.
“You taste like honey. And this…” He rubs his tongue against the ring through my lower lip. “I like this…”
“Are you actually jealous?” “Of course, I am.” I bite the side of her neck. “I want you. And I don’t want him to have you.”
That’s what’s beautiful and tragic about human beings—for better or for worse, not a single one can be replaced.
“Alright…I saw him looking through your car window, and I provoked him on purpose because I’m jealous. I’m jealous that he gets to come to your house, and I’m jealous that he’s fixing your lights. I’m jealous that he talks to you, and I’m fucking enraged that he dared try to kiss you the moment I left the party. I want you all to myself, and I don’t care if I have to fight every person in this whole damn town.”
“I’m scared of how much I like you.” “Ah.” He nods like he understands. “Me, too.”
“I’d do the whole day over again, starting this minute, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
“I knew you were meant for me,” he says, raising his fingers to his lips.
Dane looks down into my face, brows black as the devil, eyes full of wicked orange light. “Goddamn that’s tight.”
“I haven’t been able to take my eyes off you since you stepped out of your car.”
“That’s not the kiss of someone ‘cute,’” Dane says. “That’s the kiss of a fucking stunning woman who impresses me, who makes me laugh, who’s got more grit in her little finger than most people will show in their whole damn lives.”
It’s eerie and ethereal, beautiful and haunting, like Dane himself. A night garden for the night
Instead, I say, “Emotion can’t be banished. It can only be stuffed down inside to fester.” “And what happens when it festers?” Dane asks. “It rots you from the inside out.”

The truth is, in Grimstone, everyone’s got a dark side…
“You have the prettiest pussy…,” Dane growls, his eyes trained between my thighs. “It’s like the cleanest, softest little flower, with all the petals closed…”
It is painful to admit hard truths. But it’s incredibly healing to be forgiven and loved in spite of them.
