raised good points. I need to think.”
I wanted him to fight for me and be proud to be with me, not stuffing me into a closet at the mention of his mother.
“Making sure my feelings are crystal-clear, since you haven’t gotten any of my
messages.”
“You don’t know that,”
“All of this could have played out exactly the same without Ashley’s involvement. It still could happen again and have nothing to do with her. You’re blaming
her for shit that has nothing to do with her, except that you don’t kn...

“It’s irrelevant, anyway. My doctor said to avoid any new emotional connections that might be confusing during my recovery. This isn’t new, Nate, and I can’t just pretend I’m not already falling for Ashes just because it makes you uncomfortable.”
Except at the same time, I really wanted to be alone with Heath, so I could make him repeat that. Just for me. Preferably while balls deep inside me.
“Bro…” Nate said with a pitying head shake. “You can’t seriously be falling for
that.” He gestured to me with an insulting s...

“Why not? She seems pretty perfect to me.”
“Dude…she’s fucking Carter for one thing,”
I was under no illusions that I wouldn’t fall back onto his dick at some stage.
“I’ve had plenty of time to make my peace with that. If I had to share with anyone, I’m glad it’s one of you dickheads.”
I have a horrible feeling that I was involved with Ashley’s kidnapping, and it makes me sick to my stomach. She needs to stay the fuck away
from us until we can work out what’s going on. N. Essex, January 6
“I find it fascinating that you’re constantly thinking about sex around me, Essex. Don’t you?”
“Ashes, is this what you meant when you asked if I wanted to study? Because I could study you all damn day and not get tired of it…” He trailed kisses down my throat, then shifted his position to help me strip out of my sweater.
“You can take it, Ashes,” he replied, kissing my throat. “I know you can.”
“Okay, clearly you two are fucking again,” Royce muttered,
It was psychological abuse at best…and in Royce’s case, it sort of felt like rape.
“So to be clear, you’re suggesting hypnosis could be somehow faking attraction between otherwise unattracted individuals? How interesting.”
“How confident are you, Layne, that Heath and Carter both wanted to fuck you?”
“It’s not the same,” Royce growled, interrupting before things could get any more out of hand. “No one here is being manipulated into their attraction to Ash and you fucking well know it. You’re just so choked up on jealousy that you’re grasping at straws.”
This week, with Ashley in my bed, underneath me, moaning and writhing in my sheets? This one, hands down, is
the best week of my whole freaking life.
The only shitty part is how guilty I feel when I see the look on m...

“Uh, it’s a fantasy book about shifters. Lots of romance. You’d probably like it…the main character has multiple
love interests. Maybe you can relate.”

When I started to open the door, his head snapped up and the blank expression on his face made me freeze. “Carter?” I squeaked just a split second before he rushed forward, slamming the door open fully and shoving me backward.
gasped as he swatted my hands aside and grabbed me by the throat. His eyes remained glassy and unfocused, his every muscle tense like his own body was fighting against his brain with every movement.
“Carter!” I pleaded, sobbing. “Come back to me! Don’t do this! Carter, please, don’t hurt me!”
“Spark?” he moaned. “Did I…? Oh my god, no…”
“I’m okay. You stopped, Carter. You stopped. I’m okay.”
At this point, I’ll do just about anything to keep Spark safe, even if it breaks my own heart.
“Spark…Ashley…let them. I deserve it.” “Shut the fuck up, Bassington,”
“He’s right,” Carter said softly. “I don’t want to hurt you, Ashley…not again.”
“Carter Bassington Junior, if you call me Ashley one more time instead of Spark, I will use Royce’s little knife to cut the name into your arm so you never forget it. Am I clear?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he murmured.
“Yes, Spark. Unde...

“Um, I was worried. You were taking a really long time…”
“I didn’t know you were waiting.”
“I was worried,” I said again.
“I’m fine,” he muttered,
“What are you doing?”
“Joining you, obviously. Make some space.”
