I had very little experience with hugs, but I was starting to learn that when they came from my alphas, they were one of the nicest moments of my life. Surrounded by warmth and energy, comforted and content. Especially with Slade, who was coldly aloof most of the time.
We must plan and heal, Emmeline. I will hold you until you can hold yourself.”
“Your wolf’s fur is the whitest I’ve ever seen,” he explained, as he finally glanced my way, his expression neutral. His eyes burned though. “It reminds me of the purity of snow, and your arctic blue eyes only add to the vibe.”
“Every alpha in your pack has their way of keeping track of you, Emmeline,” he said nonchalantly. “Mine is just more thorough.”
“Is that an order, Daddy Alpha? Because I don’t remember asking for a keeper.” He dropped his glass with a thud, and a choked gasp escaped me when he wrapped his claim around my throat, capturing me in his way. He leaned in closer, his voice a purr of dominance. “You have a keeper, Babygirl. You are kept. Owned. Claimed. Mine.” His voice lowered even more, and as I melted into my chair, he released me just as suddenly, retrieving his drink once more. “And don’t you ever forget it.”
There was literally no way, outside of a lobotomy, to forget Hunter Reeves and his claim.
Finley still needed a few high fives. To the face. With a chair.
“Sleeping next to you,” he thundered, kissing down the corner of my lips, his tongue tracing every inch of my skin that he touched, “was beyond my fucking control. I need you in my bed, Emmeline. I need you naked and under me every damn night, before my beast goes completely feral. The man as well.”
It almost looked like his hair was lifting as he powered up; our brother was about to go Super Saiyan Ultra Instinct, and the fact that I even knew what the highest level of powering up a Saiyan in Dragon Ball Z was had me needing to kick Hunter’s ass.
“I’m a huge believer that women should always build up other women.” I was surrounded by her sweet, husky laughter. “And we also need to be honest with each other. Which is why I’ll tell you how amazing you are… and if the dress makes you look like a bag of potatoes. It’s balance. It’s trust. And it’s honesty. I value all three.”
Oh fuck. I knew exactly what this was: security footage. But not just any old footage. This was Slade’s stalker wall, and I was on every single screen. I was his prey.
“I’m a dragon, Snow. I ferociously guard what is mine, and right now, you are my possession. I own you. I watch over you. There’s no part of you that will remain separate from me. Do you understand?”
“As I keep saying,” Hunter added as he sprawled back deeper in his chair, long legs smashing into the row in front of us, “our pack dynamics will all work out the way they’re supposed to, in the time they’re supposed to. This isn’t a sprint… it’s a journey. And we all started at a different place.”
“I like when you use your words, little omega. Makes me want to give you exactly what you demand. While also leaving me with a need to punish you for your smart mouth. It’s a quandary.”
