If Cooper was still asleep, perhaps Chaos would try nibbling at one of those elegant fingers after all. He’d be very careful though. It wouldn’t do to damage his future mate.
“Vampires,” Kai growled in explanation. Huh. Well, then. Cooper hadn’t known those existed. He’d have to muster up the proper shock later, when he wasn’t about to pass out from anxiety.
“I don’t try to manage him.” At Nix’s questioning look, Cooper explained, “If you let Chaos be who he is—if you don’t try to control him—he appreciates it. He pays attention to where the boundaries are. He manages himself.”
He still liked Chaos just fine. So what if he was a little scary? So was going to the grocery store.
“You are my human,” Chaos hissed, literal flames dancing in his eyes. “I found you, fair and square. I’m being patient and gentle and tricky as a fox to keep you close, but if that’s not working, I can be much—” He looked around the room, as if trying to find an answer there, then settled his gaze back on Cooper. “Much scarier about it.”
“I will be your lover and friend and family and god and anything else you need.”
