Dance, monkey, dance.
“When she was dying, she told him some things about how to be a good man. Always open car doors. Carry a handkerchief on dates, because you never know when she’ll cry. Never let her pay for dinner.”
The rigidity of her posture makes me think of my own mother’s the time that Johnny Rickles stuck a “Kick me” note on my back and then watched all the other kids laugh. My mother went ballistic when she saw it. It’s a look that says danger will have to go through her before it gets to the children, and I think I just met Seth, Mellie, and Joey’s new mom for the very first time. Her name is Skylar Morgan, and she’s tiny and gorgeous and awesome.
I realized that I’m part of a family, and like the Grinch who stole Christmas, my heart swelled to twice its size.
“I’m not usually this emotional,” I say. He shrugs. “All women say that. It usually precedes an episode of batshit craziness.”

She slept in my bed for a long time before we ever had sex. It wasn’t about that. It was about those quiet, intimate moments. Those were what mattered. They fed my soul.”
“You’re so fucking amazing that you make my heart hurt sometimes,”
Let. Love. In.”
My heart’s beating like I just ran a mile, and I am afraid that it’s going to shatter like the glass vase I broke when I was six. There were pieces of it everywhere. I worry for her health if that happens. She’ll get stabbed by pieces of my shattered heart.
“Where did you learn to do that?” “Learn,” he says over a snort. “Shit, I’ve never done that before. That was all you.” He chuckles. “I can’t believe I let you corrupt me like that.”
“Life is like a book, Seth,” I tell him. “Just like the photo album. Pages go by, but you can turn back to them anytime, even when the last page has been read. All you have to do is open the book back up and pick a page to reread.” I
“My balls are not in April’s pocket.” They’re in Sky’s pocket. Happily.
I sat down beside you in that church, and you were trembling. I wanted to know you. Immediately. It hit me like a speeding train.”
“You ready to marry me?” he asks when he lifts his head. He stares into my eyes, and I swear I can see the very depths of his soul.
“You’re my miracle,” he says. “You. Just you.”
