To those of you who have ever felt too damaged to be loved or too broken to be fixed. This is for you.
“I will always love you.” My trembling hand lowered to hold what remained of hers as I whispered, “I will find you in the afterlife, Lena. I promise.”
I am broken. I am nothing without her by my side.
“It isn’t the first life I’ve taken for you. I don’t expect it to be the last.”
“It…It wasn’t until a few weeks into our journey I realized I had fallen pregnant.”
Remembered the night I lost my child. Remembered the night I got my fire.
“You shouldn’t have gone through it…” his voice cracked, “…without…me."
Leroy’s eyes darted between us for a moment before he laughed softly. “You surprise me, Prince.” Leroy then raised his hand. “Revelare.” We all watched as Leroy’s glamour faded, as the ear his blonde hair was tucked behind turned pointed, and his pupils completely vanished. As we realized Leroy was a Warlock.
But these creatures…she was willing to become one of them if it meant saving my life.
But I would never want her to risk herself for me. I had already lost her once, already suffered. I couldn’t go through it again.
“Nothing could’ve made me not love her.”
“That man…that man is deeply in love with you.”
“You’re awfully bold, Flower.” Flower. My smile slipped, my eyes dilating. Silas’s smirk only grew. “Ah, but I still am able to unnerve you and have the upper hand,” he whispered, his eyes falling to my lips. His golden eyes flicked up to mine. In this lighting, they seemed to glow against his tan skin.
“I hate you. I hate how badly I crave you. I hate that I will always compare every lover to you and come up short-handed. Every. Single. Time.”
My name on her lips…that will be my undoing.
“You consume all of me, Lena. You are my waking thought and the final picture I see before I sleep. You are a siren that haunts my dreams. It's been that way since the moment I met you.” I sighed in defeat. “There’s not a damn second you aren’t on my mind.”
“Nevertheless,” I murmured, “even with all the pain that has come with loving you, I would never choose to forget the beauty of the moments we shared. Because for me, those moments with you are the only beautiful memories I have.”
Kayin wasn’t just Igon’s daughter. She wasn’t just your typical Mage with silky black hair and stunning sapphire eyes. Kayin was Ryia La’Rune. Kayin was Silas’s mother.
“It’s me,” I breathed. “I am the weapon.”
“Because I was not sired by Waylon,” I breathed. “I was sired by you.”
“I am a God,” I whispered. “I am your daughter. The Goddess of Purification.” “That is right, my dear.” The God of Vengeance's smile grew proud. “And you shall bow to no one.”
