“And your name is…?” I prompted. A tremble moved through her. “Why do you want to know?” That was easy. I grinned. “So I know what name to write on our marriage certificate.”
“The man started a fight in the middle of a restaurant because he saw you on a date with someone else. You sure about his feelings? Because I don’t know about you, but I’ve never started a fight over a man I didn’t give a shit about.”
“Because your conversation about Violet’s virginity—” He glared at Whip. “Or possible lack of, is not good for my rage. And Doc said when I start wanting to murder people, like I do the two of you right now, I need to channel it elsewhere. And not into pulling out my knife and stabbing the two of you repetitively. So if you don’t want me to do that, I’ll ask that you let me finish my goddamn downward dog!”
“They’re multiplying!” He yelped. “Oh God, it’s like one of those zombie apocalypse shows where they all attract each other. It’s nearly ten o’clock at night, you crotch goblins! Why are you eating ice cream at this time? Have you no concern for a good night’s sleep?”
“You are the love of my life, Bethany Melissa Arthur. And I couldn’t be more honored to stand up here in front of everyone today, so they all know that. The dream used to be to give you my last name, but now all I want is yours. You are the piece of this puzzle that completes it. You are the rock our whole lives revolve around. You are the center of everything that’s good and sweet and perfect. Our family exists because of you, and I’ll never not be grateful for that.”
