If I can’t even see myself, how can I expect anyone else to see me?
I realize that I'm feeling more at ease now. Maybe it's because I know that Juniper will be there in the morning to help me. I don't know why that makes me feel better, but it just does. Juniper is calm, peaceful, and always has a helping hand. I appreciate her more than she knows, and I am once again reminded how lucky I am to have her in my employ. I have to ensure I never do anything to mess that up. I’m not sure what I would do if I didn’t have her in my life.
Maybe he's incapable of feeling love, or he’s scared of it. That’s something for me to ponder. I wonder why he would be scared, though. From all accounts, his parents are still married, and from what I can tell, based on all the phone calls, they both dote on him. But maybe I can do some prying and some research and see what I can find out. Because if Remington Parker is scared of love, I want to know why.
He bursts out laughing. "You didn't think I was being serious, did you?" "Of course, not," I say quickly, feeling annoyed. I lick my lips again and lean forward. "I don't think you could handle a woman like me, Remington." I bite down on my lower lip. "I'm the sort of woman who would undo that tie and handcuff you." I grin. "I may be sugar and spice, but I'm not all things nice." His breath catches for a moment, and he leans forward. "I do believe you're teasing me, Juniper. And if I'm being honest, I think I quite like it. I think I like it a lot. You're a wild one, aren't you?"
“You're crazy, right? You do know that Remington would be the luckiest man in the world to have someone like you. Physically, you're stunning. Inside, you're beautiful.
“I’m a dirty man, Juniper. Don’t offer what you’re not willing to give,” he whispers in my ear, and I press my body against his. “Don’t tease if you’re not willing to play,” I whisper against his lips. “And don’t assume that just because you sniff, you can eat.” I lick my lips slowly. “Maybe all you’ll ever get is a crumb... Maybe this entrée will never be available to you.”
She stares up into my eyes again. “You're insufferable, Mr. Parker.” “I told you to call me Remington.” “You're insufferable, Remington. Is that better?”
"You'll see," he says. "But when you issue a challenge like that to me, I can't back down. I'm a virile man, and I know what I want, and I want you. And darling, I know that you want me."
I can't promise you the world because I don't know if I have it to give you. And I can't promise you a happily ever after because I don't know if I truly believe they exist." "I don't need you to promise me the world," she says. "And I love your honesty.
