“That’s okay,” Ben murmured, unfazed by the tears. “That’s okay. I’m here. I’m here now, sweetheart.” He kissed me again. “I’ll take care of everything. So that you can rest.”

But I am patient and you are worth the wait, however long it takes.

“I’m going to take such good care of you,” Ben murmured, this quiet rumbly murmur that made me light up from the inside out. And then he added, as if what he’d already said wasn’t sweet enough. “Thank you for trusting me with this. With…you.”

“When I’m in control, you’re safe.”
