Then I’d been riddled with desperation when I’d found him on his knees, Gideon pointing a gun and getting ready to shoot. I hadn’t thought twice about it. I’d opened fire. As if I wouldn’t protect Otto the way he’d always protected me. As if I would hold an ounce of remorse over it.
Only Raven had pushed to her knees, and I saw a flash of metal. A blade. She had Gideon’s knife, and she drove it straight into Sienna’s stomach right before she got to me.
“It was you.” My throat clogged off, and he hugged me tighter. “You were the one who saved me. Gave me a new lease on life.” I peeked up at him. “Because I always knew you were destined to spend this life with me.”
