“Look at him a little longer, my star. I dare you.”
“If you run, I will hunt you down. I think you know now what would happen when I caught you.”
It came alive just as suddenly, darkness bleeding out from my body. The stars twinkled once before the heavens darkened as if clouds covered the moon and stars and plunged us into a void where there was absolutely nothing.
“What are you, Little One?”
You are young and deserve to figure out who you are before you become a mother. I have waited centuries to see my mate swell with my child. I can wait a few more,” he said, smirking when I flushed at the words.
“If you are able to imagine your life, your future, without me in this world, then why would I want to live?” Caldris asked,
“I love you. In this life or the afterlife, my star. I will always wait for you.”
I hated snakes, so of course by the force of her nature my mate had to treat them like pets.
Why did it have to be snakes? She couldn’t have had an affinity for puppies?
“I could bring back the snakes,” she said, a cruel smile lighting her face. The little monster knew just how much I despised them.
“You are the only star in my sky.” She smiled sweetly, chasing away the shadows that lingered in her eyes. The green of them shone back at me, blinking back the tears that made her eyes burn. “And you are the only light in my darkness,” she said,
“He likes it when I stab things. Call it a character flaw,” I said, smirking in spite of my death staring me in the face.
“I told you once before, I would rather die than go on without you.”
“I am going to love you until the stars disappear from the night sky and the sun ceases to shine. Until the world returns to the void from whence it was born and chaos reigns once again.”
“Until chaos reigns and eternity begins anew, and for every moment after,”
“My soul, my heart, my flesh, and my sword are yours, and if ever there should come a day when your heart ceases to beat, I will follow you into the Void.”
“You may not be able to kill me, but that does not mean that you wouldn’t take your own life if you became desperate enough. You will not be a martyr, min asteren. Not unless you’re willing to take me with you,”
“The Veils of Flesh and Bone,” Caldris echoed,
