Lucky Man: A Memoir

It is plain from these scenes that in many ways who I am is who I always was. So the question is then not “How did I get this way?,” but “How did I stay this way?” The answer is, “I'm not sure that I did.”

This was the lesson: it wasn't for me to fret about time or loss but to appreciate each day, move forward, and have faith that something larger was at work, something with its own sense of timing and balance.
