To all my good girls who know falling in love with the king of an outlaw motorcycle club doesn’t mean your mission in life is to change him. Instead, it is to embrace the wicked inside you and become his bad ass queen.
always asked myself why I had to change to stop a man from looking at me.
“Right, sorry I forgot how touchy you are,” he raises his hands in truce. I’m not touchy, you prick. I just don’t enjoy you looking at me like I’m dessert every damn day.
Lovely is as close to a compliment as Evan ever gives me but I know he means it. After two years, the niceties come a little less, but Evan is always kind. I should be grateful to have someone like him in my life. He’s always steady and reliable and we get along very well. We always have.
easy isn’t always right,
“The good girl with the smart mouth?” he asks low, his knuckles still grazing my arm in a static connection. “If you aren’t careful, little hummingbird, I may have to use that mouth to set you straight.” He leans in closer, and my knees go weak as his lips hover over my ear. “But maybe that’s exactly what you want… maybe you’re sick of being good, yeah?”
I feel the pull from her again, like she’s trying to see into my soul. That is not a place she wants to go.
“Or… maybe with me, you simply aren’t afraid to be yourself, even if that looks a little different than everyone else expects.”
“Don’t be so fucking polite. Take what you want.
With it he claims me, kissing me like there’s no such thing as time. And I realize, I’ve never really been kissed before. No other man should count.
The beast in me bares its teeth, knowing without question that it’s finally about to be satisfied.
I’m gone. Let me bleed.
“You will hold no space to fear anything in this world except me. If anyone threatens you or tries to hurt you, they will be met with a suffering so deep that Lucifer himself will beg mercy for their souls. I’ll tear the flesh from their bones one layer at a time and rejoice like the angel of bloodshed I was trained to be.” Gabriel’s hands slide up my back into my hair pulling my head taut to his, he angles my face. “I own all your fear, little hummingbird. No one else can have it.”
The fire she doesn’t know how to use yet creeps into her blue eyes, the embers burning. I want to stoke those embers within her, bring out her fire.
“We all have angels watching over us, even you. Maybe you’ve just been riding faster than yours can fly. Maybe it’s time to slow down a little.” I feel her smirk against me. “Let them catch up.”
My chest cracks wide open and I almost feel my heavy heart start to beat as I remember my mother’s words… Find yourself an angel to be your queen, a safe haven.
“We’ll protect her like we do you, boss,” Ax says seriously. I nod and snap the gavel down, smirking back at them. When I’m done with her, she’ll be able to protect them.
How can one see this sort of carnage and come out the other side with faith?
