“I’m not even eighteen and I get insanely negative comments about my body every day.” She shook her head. “It’s exhausting. But I’ve got a great support system around me, even if you’re completely obtuse sometimes. I know I’m enough. A lot of women can’t say the same.” Isak folded his arms and glared at the TV. “I will happily stomp on anyone who even thinks about saying crap like this to you, princess.” “You all don’t see it, because you don’t have to. This is just a smidge of the shit we deal with about our bodies. Those commercials today were revolutionary. They meant something. They

“Be a good girl and come hard on my cock.”
“Someone will see you.” “Let them.” He brushed a tear from my cheek. I hadn’t even realized I was crying. “You’re more important.”
Tempest looked stunned. “Why are you doing all this for me? I mean, I appreciate that you’re a fan, like, really, really appreciate it. But you hardly know me.” “Are you kidding? I know you through your words.” Jules’s expression grew earnest. “Your books got me through midterms last semester. The way you write about women taking up space in a world that wants them small. That matters. When I realized my brother was dating the author I admired, well, fate doesn’t hand out coincidences like that every day.”

“Good,” Abuela said firmly. “Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s action in the face of it. And you, mi amor, have more courage than you know.”
The whole circle of women either, smiled or chuckled. But Abuela was the one who gave their response a voice. “The world’s a stage, querida, and we are all merely actors, every one of us. Of course we have faked it a time or two.” That brought a round of giggles. “But not with the Kingman men,” Trixie said and gave her fiancé a wave. He blew her a kiss and winked.
“Yeah, no matter where we all are in the world after graduation as we spread our wings and fly out on our own into adulthood, just know, that, if you ever break our Tempest’s heart, we will hurt you.” Bettie, Hannah, and Alice all stared me down. “Yes,” Bettie said. “Like mailing you cow’s tongues in Tiffany boxes just like the patron saint of badass women, Carrie Fischer did once.”
