To those whose biggest demon is their own mind, you are worthy and you are enough.
It’s like the Hayden Cassidy homing beacon that’s been dormant inside me for over a decade has kick-started, and every single one of my senses has been programmed to focus on him. It’s stifling.
Our connection was magical, both on and off the ice.
“He’s shown you a photo of his kids. That’s a big fucking deal. He’s letting you in despite being hesitant, so do the same for him. Give him a chance to see you.”
I lick over my dry lips. I can almost taste him and the whiskey on his tongue. This is bad. So very, very bad. I’ve gone fourteen years without this primal need to taste him. To capture his lips with mine and steal his breath like I used to do all that time ago. Then he comes in here, wearing a fucking Chilli costume, and I’m folding like a bad poker hand.
“I… I guess I wanted to be part of your favorite morning somehow.” He chews the corner of his mouth with his teeth. “All I know is I can’t stop thinking about you.”
“Well, I’m not sorry.” His gaze snaps up to meet mine. “You’re not?” “No, I’m not. If it isn’t obvious already, I’m kind of a mess for you, Jackson. I always have been.”
“I’m glad you’re here,” he whispers with a shaky voice. “Really fucking glad.” My face goes hot. “Yeah?” “Yeah, I am.”
She’s still my incredible daughter, but now, I’ll be able to educate myself to understand her better and give her whatever she needs in order to thrive.
“You have pictures,” Isabela says, voice barely audible. I glance down at where my tattoos are now visible. “Yeah, I have lots of pictures.” Her eyes light up with glee.  “You like pictures?”
I want my soul to be next to his for the rest of my life.
“I love you, Hayden Issac Cassidy. I’ve always loved you, and I will continue to love you. I’ll love you so fucking hard you won’t ever question it.”
We’ve kissed thousands of times since we met, but this one feels different. It feels like a thousand I love yous. It feels like I can’t breathe without you. It feels like a turning point for better things to come.  It feels like the start of forever.
Friends know where friends live. Friends check in on each other. Friends notice when friends are struggling and make sure they know they have support,” Peyton adds, and then his lips tip into a smirk. “And friends tell each other when they’re dating our teammate.”
