I’m torn between wanting to yank him down for another scorching kiss or knee him in the groin for making me feel this way. Weak and wanting and completely at his mercy.
I can’t afford to get caught up in whatever this is. I have an inn to save and a future to secure. Falling for my bully is not part of the plan.
Watching a smart man confidently in his element does something to my insides that should be illegal.
“When you love someone,” I say softly, looking up toward Thorak, “that love has the power to overcome any history, to heal any wound.”
don’t know what to do,” I admit quietly. “It’s all so...complex.” Laurelle hums, giving my shoulders a comforting squeeze. “Of course it is,” she says, her tone suddenly gentle. “The best things always are. But you can’t let fear rob you of a chance at real happiness, sweet pea.”
Love is a risk, babe. A leap of faith. No one can ever know for sure how it’ll turn out. But if you don’t jump, you’ll never fly.”
How hearts can open and prejudices fade when people are given the chance to truly understand one another.
