If you ever think to yourself, “I need to know what is true—what is true about me, true about people, true about the world, true about the future, true about the past, true about the good life, and true about God,” then come to God’s word. It teaches only what is true: “Sanctify them in the truth,” Jesus said; “your word is truth” (John 17:17).
His demands are always noble, always just, and always righteous.
As the people of God, we believe the word of God can be trusted in every way to speak what is true, command what is right, and provide us with what is good.
God reveals himself to us in two ways: through the universe we can see, and through the Scripture we can hear and read.
We need the revelation of God to know God, and the only sure, saving, final, perfect revelation of God is found in Scripture.
Jesus submitted his will to the Scriptures, committed his brain to studying the Scriptures, and humbled his heart to obey the Scriptures.
Don’t forget what you know and have already learned. Don’t lose sight of who you are. Stay on track. Keep on going.
The purpose of Holy Scripture is not ultimately to make you smart, or make you relevant, or make you rich, or get you a job, or get you married, or take all your problems away, or tell you where to live. The aim is that you might be wise enough to put your faith in Christ and be saved.
Scripture is profitable for training in righteousness.
And no one makes it far in the school of holiness without hours and days and years in the word.
There is no limit to what the Bible can do for us, to us, and through us.
We can never outgrow the Bible, because it always means to make us grow.
