“He took her to Philly. I’m gonna break that nigga’s neck when I get to him.” I stood up, and Quasim was standing in the doorway. “I swear to God if they fucking hurt Blair, I’m gonna lose my shit, Capp.” Quasim liked Blair, and the shit was obvious. No nigga would be feeling like this over a chick he had met a few times.
“What’s the matter, Gorgeous.” “You all come home to us,” she said in a shaky voice. “All of you, make sure you come home.” Capone stopped messing with his gun and went to console his wife. That shit made my chest hurt because I wanted my wife near me.
From the way Naheim was looking at Quameer, I could tell that he wasn’t feeling him. “Check all that shit at the fucking door. Let your feelings get between me getting my wife in my arms safely, and I’ll fucking pull the trigger on you myself.” I looked him in the eyes, and then left out the door.
exactly cause last time i checked you done fumbled on her and now tryna be on her. this ain’t about you naheim
Quameer started his motorcycle. “Capp, like I told you before I got her… we gonna handle business. If you look over and see her alone, know I ain’t too far behind her.” He looked me in the eyes, giving me a nod. I trusted his word and looked at Capri. “Bust yo’ shit, Baby Doll. Don’t even give a nigga the benefit of the doubt.” “Always.”
I was going to get my baby and bring her where she belonged which was by my side. I didn’t give a fuck what happened to me, as long as I got my fucking wife back under our roof.
I looked over at Capri, and she was focused. She whipped in and out of lanes, me and Capp making sure she stayed in that middle lane. I’ve been through some crazy ass shit, but this had to take the cake. My only goal was bringing my sister-in-law home and making sure I kept my brother out of prison.
Cappadonna was a different demon than I was, and that nigga wore the title king of the darkness with pride. The only light was his kids and his wife, and they took his wife, so I was strapped and ready to handle shit when we touched down.
“You think she fucking with him?” Shit was crazy how he was so worried about what she was doing when he had a whole girlfriend that he should have been concerned with. “Don’t you got a bitch?” “I can’t ask about my wife.” “Ex-wife, son. Capri isn’t your wife no more and you can’t continue trying to figure out what she’s into. She’s a grown woman and I think that applies to me and Capp, too.”
“You fucking had her, Naheim. Had her and fumbled her for some bitch like Tasha. A pass around that could have got you killed, because keeping it real with you, I spoke to Capp about doing you in.” He looked at me like he was shocked to hear those words come from me. The only thing that saved him was not betraying my sister by going against what she wanted. I loved Naheim like a little brother, but Capri was my actual blood.
Even with me and Ella being on good terms, I could never be close to her like I once was. She would always be taken care of because she was CJ’s mama, but when it came to being friends like we used to be, I couldn’t do that shit to Capri. I never pretended to be a perfect man, and I damn sure didn’t get it right every time. Once I was put onto game, I made sure that I got it right the second time.
You fucking broke her, Nah. You took that little piece of innocence that she had, and that shit was hard to witness. Her and Erin are close, you don’t think I walked into a room and saw her sobbing to my wife?” “We both did wrong.” “She may have fucked around with Kincaid, but you pushed her there.
If Naheim loved her, then he would let her go. Capri loved him so much that she would continue accepting pieces of him because she was too scared to have all of him again.
“Mill Creek, Pennsylvania is where the crib is at… Aspen street. Bunch of row homes and shit, and that’s Chrome Viper’s main territory so he wasn’t stupid and brought them there. I don’t think we should roll up ‘cause that shit gonna get crazy.” “Fuck that shit… it got crazy when niggas snatched my fucking wife.”
The crazy thing was that I wasn’t worried about my daughter. She would always be taken care of when it came to our family. I worried about Cappadonna. He wouldn’t be alright if something happened to me. I knew my husband and knew that life wouldn’t be the same for him if he came and found me dead in this basement.
My heart should have been broken hearing that my brother had once again used me to clear some debt that he had. I wished I had a reaction, cause then it would mean it wasn’t the norm for me. Instead, I was disgusted that Raheem used me to keep this man from doing something to him.
I closed my eyes, as I felt the tears glide down my face as I thought of Promise. I would give anything to see my baby and smell the crook of her neck. I’d give anything to be in the kitchen making my husband his dinner. I would give anything to be anywhere but where I was at this moment. He used his knee to push apart my legs and I started to dissociate. “Woah whh…. what the fuck?” I felt the man being pulled off me and my arms were free. When I opened my eyes, Cappadonna was standing there with fire in his eyes.
“Oh shit, what up, Rah? Let me keep it real with you though… you don’t want to do this… I can promise you. Mrs. Delgato is very… um… protective when it comes to me,” Cappadonna snickered. Even with a gun to the back of his head, Cappadonna was still gonna be Big Capp, and didn’t give a fuck what anybody said about it.
“Nah, what’s funny is that you didn’t think I would find my wife or would ever put her in the position to be defenseless or vulnerable again. One thing you gotta know about me, your devil-in-law, is that I play for keeps and no nigga can ever say they won when it came to me… feel me?” He continued to massage Fatima’s neck, she whimpered when he applied more pressure. “Joy, remember what I told you, Mama… when it comes to your man…”
“I’ve dreamed about a million ways you would get yours when it came to karma. I never imagined that it would be me… I was playing it too small, and now look. You’re on your knees in front of me. Don’t ever fucking put a gun to my husband’s head and think I won’t have something to say about it.”
“Good girl. Tried to tell that nigga you don’t play when it comes to Daddy.”
“Put that on the best baby in the fucking world… love you, Joy.” He winked. “Joy let that shit go for her man,” he sang out, being silly like only he would after what just went down.
“Quasim, make sure my husband is back on that road.” “Got you, Lady Capp.” He smiled, hopping on his bike, and going the opposite direction as us.
I took a breath. “Had Capp got there a second later, I wouldn’t be able to say I was fine.” Both Blair and Capri took a sigh of relief. “Blair, what the fuck? Tookie? I thought you left that nigga alone in college.” She looked at Blair through the rearview. I could tell that Blair was ashamed and didn’t want to talk about it, so I switched the subject.
I watched as Cappadonna’s truck came flying down the highway on one side, and Chubs on the other side. Capone was right behind his brother, switching into the middle lane while cars followed behind them, and a motorcycle. Quameer and Quasim both got on the side of us, and we watched as Goon took the back of us. It was like being in the middle of a movie that was filming as I watched my husband’s arm extended,
“Capri, apply pressure to that shit,” Naheim’s voice came blaring through the speakers. “You held it down… proud of you.” She smiled. “Thank you, Heim… hurry please.”
“You got there in time, Baby. When it comes to me, Allah makes it where you’re always on time. We don’t need to think of what could have happened and thank Allah that you got there.” Tears rolled down my face and she wiped them while wiping her own. “I don’t ever want to think of a world without you in it, Baby.”
“More like an irreplaceable jewel… there’s a million different jewels out there, there is only one of you, Joy. I can never get you again, you hear me? So, I’m doing everything in my power to keep you safe. No shit like that will ever happen to you again, and I put that on my life. I don’t want you to wear that chain because I wanna keep tabs on you, I trust and love you. I do it because had you not had it on, I wouldn’t have known where to look for you… I damn sure wouldn’t have rested until I did.”
“Roy and Joy?” “Forever, Baby,” I kissed her on the lips. She looked around our closet. “We should sleep in the closet tonight. Grab all the blankets and pillows from the bed, and cuddle… I need my baby though, Roy.” I stared at my wife, knowing her ass wasn’t wrapped too tight, and I felt an immense sense of love for her.
On the flip side, I was happy that Alaia was able to be the one to pull the trigger. He had done the most harm to her throughout the years. Her entire life was changed because of a decision he had made based on greed. My baby needed to be the one to handle him, and I was glad that she had.
She looked me in the eyes. “If you’re asking about Raheem, I hope he rots in hell. He had never been family, you’re my family, Capone, Erin and Capri are my family, and I will always ride for y’all. I promise I’m not going to struggle over Raheem.” “And your moms?” “I still want to visit her. Her voicemails were all bullshit, and she wanted to line me up for Raheem.” She looked down at her hands. “I am fucked up about that. I was so excited to have a relationship with my mother. Mend the broken relationship and actually introduce Promise to her.”
“You may have not been born with family, you got one now and we come hard for you. Capri was coming even if we told her not to.”
Raheem was so busy gloating that he didn’t watch as she maneuvered her hands behind her back. He was relishing in thinking he would be the one to claim my body, not knowing that I married a woman that was just as touched as I was. His biggest mistake was underestimating Alaia, and thinking she was the same girl from ten years ago. He didn’t have any faith in her, and assumed she would be useless like the bitch I was holding by the throat.
The woman looked at him and laughed. “If you saw how the fuck they rolled through here and put those CVs on they ass… actually, it wasn’t a Black man… he was White.” “Excuse me?” “Kind of look like you,” she sized him up and he motioned for the cameras to cut to commercial, as she continued to gaslight him into not knowing what I looked like.
