Isn’t it a little, uh, loud? Kit asked once when I brought home a new bright orange dress. Something about the vibrant tangerine color had made me so happy. You really want to stick out like that?
i kind of hate kit
head. I’ve always wanted to dye my hair purple, I told him. Since I was a little girl. A pale purple, like lavender. He made a face. You don’t really want to do that to your hair, do you? he asked. It would look childish. Your hair is nice as it is.

“She lost her phone,” I lie, hauling her out of there without looking back. “Maybe next time.”

I read an article once where a porn star said when he’s having performance issues on set, he smells the back of his female costar’s neck. Something about pheromones. I told everyone this at the bar, and Miller tried it with Hazel. He said it didn’t work.
miller lied to you
Miller looks over the seats. “Hey, Streicher, do you want to cuddle later? As friends?” A few rows away, Streicher gives him a surly glare.

There’s a clunk of nerves in my stomach. When I’m wrong, I’m really wrong, and it can have disastrous consequences, but there’s a lingering feeling that I’m right about this.

An image of the hot pink toy Hayden bought me fills the screen, and my heart jolts into my throat. Beside me, Hayden stiffens. “Using your new G-Spot Banger is easy with these three steps,” a calming woman’s voice says on the video as she holds up the sex toy.

“Oh my god.” I slam the laptop closed, face burning hotter than the surface of the sun while everyone stares at me in shock. Rory lets out a howl of laughter as Alexei and Jamie stare at my screen in horror. Hazel presses her mouth tight to hide a smile. I can’t look at Hayden.

“I can explain.”

“Hazel has that one, too.” He looks back at her with a question on his face. “Right?” She nods, chuckling. “Yep. That’s the one I told Hayden to buy.”

He raises an eyebrow and gives me a long look. “The teams I’ve carefully selected and spent an entire season training with?”

“You should wear red more,” Alexei says halfway through dinner, and beside me, Hayden tenses.
alexei is such a shit stirrer
Tonight was a huge mistake. I should have checked with him before agreeing to go out with Alexei. He clearly doesn’t want me dating another one of his friends in case it gets messy like it did with Kit.

Luca waltzes in wearing his Storm jersey and a waist-length, wavy pale-purple wig. Everyone goes silent and stares at him.
i’m cackling
Alexei stares at him. “Why?” “You said we’re dressing up as Darcy.” “I said we’re dressing up as Darcy’s favorite TV show.”

He looks rough. Dark circles under his eyes and a sunken look to his face. The server drops a beer off and Kit drains half of it.
oh darn. poor him
“Darcy and I are together now.” No point in beating around the bush. His jaw goes slack and he stares at me for a moment before he lets out a sharp laugh. “Sorry, I thought you said you and Darcy are together.” “That’s what I said. Darcy and I are dating. I’m serious about her.”
PERIOD
“You’re finally happy again.” “So are you,” she shoots back. Ward clears his throat. “Can I just—”
maybe we should let ward speak no?
Ward sighs. “Both of you be quiet for a moment,” he says, not unkindly. “You’ve each made up your mind, but it isn’t your decision.” He cuts each of us a sharp look. “Either of you.”
