“I’m only saying that you shouldn’t feel it necessary to help everyone in order to earn their love.
“It’s painful because of the meaning you give to it, not because of the feelings themselves. Next time you find yourself getting swept up by your emotions, try observing them instead.”
“Sometimes all the change in the world cannot atone for the actions we’ve already taken.”
You couldn’t measure someone’s value by listing their flaws. We were complex creatures, humans, gods, and demons alike. I wouldn’t want to be judged by my worst actions any more than I’d want to be judged by my best ones. Neither was an accurate representation of who I was at my core. If I had my druthers, I would’ve smashed that mirror with a mallet and tossed the shards off the Bridge of Pain. We were all deserving of more than what a mirror could tell us. It was two-dimensional, a superficial reflection; it told no stories. It was the ‘what,’ not the ‘why.’ And the ‘why’ mattered.
“Everybody deserves to be who they are. You shouldn’t need to prove you’re worthy of it.”
The only thing that matters is that I understand, and I accept it. I accept me. Lorelei. Melinoe. I’m not two halves or two souls in one body. I’m just me.” Flawed. Fallible. But always trying to be better. To do better.
