“Huckslee,” my jaw drops, eyes near bugging out of my skull as my heart implodes. “That’s permanent. As in, my name will be inked on your body forever!” “You’re already in my soul. Now the outside just matches,” he says simply,
“I don’t want to hide you,” he says softly, searching my face. “I’m going to love you loud, Taylor.”
It’s me and you, baby. Has been since the moment we kissed beneath the bleachers in eighth grade, and it will be for the rest of our lives.
“Huck?” “Yeah?” “I love you, too. Always.” “I know, Tay.” His forehead rests against mine, fingers cradling the back of my neck with care as if holding something precious. “I know.”
Fuck, he’s so different now. In all the best ways. And though I can’t take credit for being the reason, I’m incredibly thankful to Salem and the guys for sticking by his side through all the shit he went through, for pushing him and believing in him to be better. They saw his worth when no one else did. Not even his own parents. Not even me. And I’ll never make that mistake again.
I’ll never get enough of Huckslee Davis. No matter how much time or distance we spend apart, I’ll always come back for more. Out of all the addictions I’ve had in my life, his presence is the most potent. The one habit I can’t kick and I never want to try.
Welcome to Delaware. Endless Discoveries. Turning around, I raise my brows at him despite the tightness in my chest. “Really? You took me to Delaware?” “Yep. Who knew it was so close to Maryland?” “I did. We really need to get you a map, Huckslee.” He simply smiles, reaching out to cup my face as I wrap my arms around him. “Looks like it’s real, after all.”
“Is it everything you hoped it would be?” Clearly, he’s not talking about the state of Delaware but rather the state of us—Taylor and Huckslee. “No.” Deepening the kiss, I jump up to wrap my legs around his waist, trusting his strength to catch me if I fall. “It’s so much more, baby. So much more.”
