Lightning protection consists of three things: grounding, bonding, and lightning arresters. Lightning arresters are either gas discharge tubes or semiconductor devices called MOVs (metal oxide varistors). Both devices shunt (shift or divert) the lightning discharge to ground, away from your equipment. Install them on a grounded panel near where feed lines enter the building (T0A07).
