Being in a relationship is hard. I thought when this all started that I could just love him, and that would be enough, but it’s not. There’s so much worry and frustration, and emotions that get lost in translation. On top of everything is this nagging fear that I’m giving too much or not enough.

Then she whispers, “Good boy,” and something inside me changes.

“It’s not my fault, you know. It’s not my fault I’m still on your mind.” “Then why can’t I let you go?” he replies bitterly. Those words cut like a knife.

“Tell me to stay gone, Eden. One last command that I promise to obey. I always was good at obeying, wasn’t I?”

“If you’re going to be a people pleaser, then the first person you need to please is yourself.”

“But I thought I was different.” I glance up at him. The sincerity on his face steals the air from my lungs. “You were different,” I whisper. “You are different.” “Don’t tell me that now,” he replies, looking pained. “Now that I can’t have you.”

“You should tell me to leave.” He’s struggling to keep his lips off me, and honestly, so am I. “I don’t want to,” I reply breathlessly. “Then tell me to kiss you.” “I shouldn’t.”

“Fuck it,” he mutters. Then his mouth crashes against mine as he devours my lips in a blazing kiss.

“Let’s see how quiet you can be,” she replies softly as her hand slides deeper,

We just…love the fuck out of each other. We get on each other’s nerves and fight and fuck and laugh and then do it all over again the next day.”

“You think a person has to be alone to feel lonely? You know nothing.”

“He’s not a married guy. He’s Dean, my Dean.”

How simple children are. Why can’t adults be like this? Apologize. Love. Be happy. Like it’s all that easy. I wish it were.
