“It’s not like that. It’s just not a big deal because I can still see out the window. You’ve never compromised for someone you care about?” “Of course. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come off like I was judging you. I just think sometimes we lose ourselves in our compromises and forget that ‘no’ is a full sentence.” He clears his throat.
“What’s your favorite drink?” I take a moment to study her, gliding my gaze down her form, lingering a second too long on those God damn waist beads, and then back to her face. “I haven’t had it yet.”
My head feels lighter, so I reach my hand up to find my silk bonnet covering my braids. I was not wearing this during our last round. He found my bonnet and wrapped my hair?
She keeps it under wraps, but Evie is a huge gamer. She has an entire YouTube channel dedicated to speed runs of her favorite games.
“Sometimes the people who are supposed to love you the most are the ones who hurt you the worst. They don’t get a pass just because they’re family. Choose yourself.” I’ve seen the damage holding on to a toxic relationship of any kind can cause and I don’t want that for her.
She looks at me with glossy eyes and dips her head bashfully. I pull her into me and kiss her with everything in me. I want her to feel this kiss down to her toes. I want what I feel for her to be imprinted on her skin. I grip the waistband of her pants and pull them down, dropping to my knees so I can provide her with support to get her shoes and pants off. She looks down at me with pure adoration and it hits me so deeply in the chest I almost fall over.
“Well, the man is six-foot-nine so it’s a little hard to see the red flags all the way up there, you know?”
