“If you insist on leaving, let me at least escort you back to town,” Arthur says, reaching for Duchess’s tether. “If you follow me,” Shae says, “I will kill you.” He tugs Sparrow around and kicks him into a trot.
Honestly I’m not even mad at Shae for this reaction. I’d be furious too.
Georgia eyes him up and down, then yells over her shoulder, “Reed, sweetheart, another ale over here!” She turns back to Shae and says, “Tell me more, darling. I’m all ears.”
I love Georgia.
No wonder Shae left to find a new set of bodyguards. Shae hired Arthur to protect him—worse, Shae trusted him—and Arthur let him down.
He’s finally got his self awareness back.
Instead, his magic feels stronger than ever before, and he has the guidance he’s prayed for: Vara’s Radiance, spurring him forward.

All that matters is the two graves behind the house. Perhaps he can take one last gift from them, as recompense for leaving him.

They were in no way responsible for causing the problems, Georgia was not one of the attacking corpses in question, and the Riverswords will be charging an exorbitant amount of hazard pay to the Lanwatch council. Of course Shae and Arthur are in her employ, she’s known them for years.
I love Georgia and I’m glad she’s still with us.
He says, voice low and resonating through Shae’s very bones, “Marry me, Shae.”
