Everyone else thinks you look like the same person afterward, a third said, but you don’t understand any of it, because there’s such a clear before and after. A completely new you.

Then he held her hand, and her skin still tries to remember how it felt, all the time.

Not because it’s perfect, but because it isn’t. It’s one of the most human works of art I’ve ever seen. I was pleased to hear that it’s hanging in a museum now.
