Some truly didn’t think about the fact that men and women were being murdered every day by the same government their children pledged allegiance to at school.
They were just people, and people were all the same. “Everybody just wants to be happy.” This she’d heard from a brilliant woman she’d shared a cell with when she was in prison. Everybody was looking for the same thing in a lot of different ways.
An absurd thing for the murderous state to plead for, but, as always, the massive violence of the state was “justice,” was “law and order,” and resistance to perpetual violence was an act of terror. It would have been funny if there weren’t so much blood everywhere.
What if the exact opposite of what she hoped was true, that rather than everyone being a diamond at their core, what if they were shit in a pretty container?
when someone said your name, what they said next had energy. What was said about you had power.
The police begged again for peace as they rolled their tanks forward.
