“I love you too,” she whispers, and my heart stops. It flatlines before jolting back to life when she takes my face in her palms. “I love you so very much, Reid, because you’ve made me believe in it again. I feel it when I’m with you. She laughs into my shoulder, and I fucking love that sound. I’d do anything to hear it again.

“Good. Then you’ll know I’m serious when I say the day you messaged me for the first time was the best day of my life. But then I met you at a bar, and that was the best day of my life. And again at a wedding. And again six months ago and again yesterday. Somehow, I keep having these best days of my life with you, Ave, and I know it’s because you’re it for me. You’re always going to be it for me, and I want to keep doing this life thing with you. I know you’re starting a new job. I know you have your eyes set on the next project that’s bigger than what you created in Baltimore, and I want you to know I’m going to follow you. Wherever it is, I’m going too.
