Humans are poorly designed and often badly manufactured. They die all the time, even without assistance. Honestly, considering the number of paranormal monsters you’ve had on board and the subpar standard operating procedures Varna provided, you’ve done better than any ship could ever be expected to do.
Humans aren’t all that complicated. Not when you break them down. Mostly just meat, bone, some stringy bits, and hormones. Not half as intricate as astrophysics.
