That was the problem with falling in love when you were out of love with yourself: even monsters looked appealing then.

It was like watching a shining star be burned out in an instant.
“What happened to the first love? Did he break your heart?” “No,” she quickly stated, shaking her head. “I don’t think he could break anyone’s heart if he wanted to. He was one of the good ones. One of the best.” “So, you broke his heart?” “In a way, maybe. But really, life broke both of our hearts. It has a way of taking great things and ruining them.”
