A husband? Actually making you happy? What the fuck kind of crazy-ass planet had I landed on?
Shuldu take only one mate and they mate for life. When they find their match, they know. I saw Darcy. And I knew. From the moment she’d stepped out of that human craft, she’d been mine. And I was not about to let something as tiny and unimportant as the fact I’d once murdered a man get in the way.
Only once, in the doorway, did she turn to look back at me, making sure I’d followed. She didn’t know me very well yet. Because if she did, she never would have needed to turn around and check.
A decent wife would never ogle her husband.
“I’m not skittish,” she protested. “I’m just… I’m just… reserved!” “Yes. My reserved little cat.” “Fallon!” “Drink your tea, little cat.” “Oh my God.”
I instantly resolved to burn myself more often. Next time, I would try to do it closer to my cock, so she might want to put her face there instead.
“Do not bite your lip so hard,” I chastened. “Or I will have to lick it better.” She blinked. “Hold on. Lick it better? The phrase is kiss it better!” “What phrase? I was talking about the fact that so many animals lick their wounds, or those of their calves or cubs.” “I am not a calf. Or a cub. Or a cat!” “Maybe not,” I acknowledged, my voice lowering to a foreign, husky growl. “But you are my wife. And I’d happily lick any part of you that was hurting.”
“Never put yourself in danger for me again,” I rasped, my throat feeling strangely constricted. “Storms. Rain. Darkness. None of it matters. None of it could keep me away. I’ll always come back to you, Darcy. Always.”
“Please tell me,” I said, speaking very slowly and trying to keep the shaking out of my voice, “that I did not just mistake a part of your anatomy for a venomous serpent and try to rip it off.”
Fallon was just too… pure. Horny and pure. The strangest, most oddly delightful combination. Something warm and squishy grew in my chest, and I would have been worried my lungs were waterlogged or something from last night, only the feeling was so warm. Cozy and gooey and foreign and… nice.
“Can I,” he groaned against the top of my head, his fingers rubbing my ass needily, “touch your clitorosaurus?”
I did not look at my exile like some of the other men here do. I considered it a relief. It was a fresh start. I love working with my hands. I love the land. I love Sora and the shuldu and the bracku. And I love you.” He said it so easily, looking right into my eyes. Like it was the most natural thing in the world. “Being sent here saved my life. Marrying you completed it.”
“Every day,” I seethed, as if my very soul were seeping out from between my teeth, “I thank the sun for rising just so it can shine upon her. Simply to breathe the air beside her is something that I treasure and fight every moment to deserve. I do not care if you do not respect me. But you will respect my wife.”
“You know, in this moment, I rather wish you were not so brave,” Fallon groaned. “If you were a coward, you would already be safe.”
