As soon as he broke the kiss, I attempted to make a token protest. But the hardness in his eyes silenced me. “Stay!” he ground through his teeth. “You’re mine, Venus.”
When he settled between my thighs, I thought I would lose my mind. Atlas didn’t play around, and immediately zeroed in on my clit. The burning heat of his mouth closed around it, and he began to suck on it with the avidity of a starving man. He sank two fingers inside me, moving them in and out at a frantic pace. In no time, he had me gyrating and chanting his name as pleasure swiftly built inside me.
“My Venus, my mate… I will fight for you. I will fight to keep you forever. You are mine, and I am yours.” I smiled.
“No, you don’t,” I said forcefully. “I don’t regret what happened between us. You are my soulmate, and I want a future with you. I’m just worried it happened too soon, that you were not ready, and that I took advantage of you.”
“This is the first time anyone has ever cared what I wanted and deliberately put my wishes and welfare before their own desires,” he mused aloud with an air of wonder and disbelief. “You didn’t take advantage of me. You didn’t trick me into anything. I want you, Venus. I’ve wanted you from the first day. Granted, it was weak at first, but it has steadily grown. Yes, I’m in heat, and it influences me. But only a female I feel physically, spiritually, and emotionally attuned to can trigger that response. My entire being not only already consented, but it also longed for us.”
“But before I can push for global changes, I have to start with me. You made me realize that I deserve kindness and respect, that people cannot take from me and deny me basic rights and dignity unless I allow them to. Since birth, I’ve walked at the edge of life, content with the crumbs others deemed sufficient for me. No more. You are the most wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me. With you, I’ve finally gotten a taste of what it’s like to truly live. You have given me a reason to fight. And fight I will, for us, for the future I never thought possible. So long as you’ll have me, I’m

“Then you are mine forever,”
“I’m keeping you, Atlas. You’re mine, now and always,” she whispered against my chest.
“As long as I draw breath, I am yours, my Venus.”

By Kiaris, how I loved the way my woman claimed me. I never wanted to belong to anyone as much as I did with her. The possessiveness of her touch, in her eyes when she looked at me, in her kisses as our tongues mingled filled me with an emotion that was steadily growing stronger in my heart.
“I’m falling in love with you, Venus,” I blurted out in a whispered voice.
“Good. Because I’m falling in love with you, too, Atlas,” she whispered,
“You are the light of my life,” I
“Until I met you, I didn’t know what happiness and truly living meant. I am sorry that I cannot give you the proper courting you deserve, take you out on fancy outings, nights of entertainment, or sightseeing around the land. But I promise to make it up to you.”
“I may be a high-maintenance diva, but you have nothing to make up for. All the things you mentioned sound wonderful, but there’s no time for that right now. Anyway, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy them while worrying about the threat hanging over your head. Saving you and the others is our only priority. We’ll have a lifetime for you to show me your world, and for me to show you the galaxy.”
“In the end, you’re still pampering me and providing for all my needs. Even under these difficult circumstances, you make me smile and make me feel safe. You’re so smart, strong, honorable, and hardworking, it fills my heart with pride to call you mine. Every night, I go to bed looking forward to the morning just because I will get to see you and be with you again. You are not failing me, Atlas. I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect partner than you.”
The greatest devastation our people faced occurred near a city that had slaughtered every single one of their Monos and Achros at birth. That didn’t stop Thaudras. Our ancestors had to hunt down the Pharoms throughout the planet to gather enough to end the cataclysm. Had they been the cause, Thaudras would have occurred where they were located. But it didn’t, it occurred in the midst of the largest Polychromatic population. If we were to follow your logic, Chancellor, then this would mean that we Polychromatics are the cause, not them
“It is not!” Acamon suddenly
“I and all others like me have a say when your kind expect us to lay down our lives to protect yours,” Acamon replied with equal contempt as he came to stand next to his mother. “Your so-called settlements are nothing more than open air prisons where you want to corral us so that you can more easily offer us in sacrifice once Thaudras inevitably still happens right here in Keryth Valley. Remember well that the lives of hundreds of Polychromatics didn’t appease the ‘gods’ who you claim unleash their wrath. It was people like me and the Black Guards who stopped it. Once you’ve exiled us to a

“YOU DARE!” Atlas shouted before I could express my own outrage.
“The only corrupted person here is you!” Atlas hissed. “You’ve spent your entire career ostracizing and belittling us, defunding any scientific research that could help end these disasters, fueling hate and fear against us, and spreading disinformation. Why? Because you fear us. As you should.”
“The off-worlder has done more for us in a few weeks than this entire Senate in generations!”
I didn’t know how I felt about this entire situation. A part of me was turned on as hell by this ruthless side of Atlas. The other worried that he was burning bridges at a time where their people needed to rally and come together as one.
“Of course not!” I retorted with the least genuine surprise. “I am the Prima, and Atlas is Xarin’s chosen Blessed Guardian. Wherever we go, he goes.”
“Oh, cut it out already!” I snapped, no longer making any effort to hide my exasperation. “I’m tired of your insinuations and slander. Let me remind you that I didn’t choose to come here. Xarin chose me, not once, but twice. Yes, he chose me over you, and he also publicly chose Atlas over you. Get over it! This isn’t about you and your petty ego.”
“I stand before you as the chosen voice of the Prism,” I said in a tired voice. “What you’ve seen on that recording was initiated by his will. He wants the Achromatics to work together, which allowed them to rediscover long-lost powers. His guidance has helped your most brilliant scientist get within reach of a solution to your people’s greatest threat. Isn’t that all that should matter? Instead of chasing conspiracy theories, listen to what they have to say. And I will continue to follow Xarin’s wishes. And so far, he wishes for me to stand by his Blessed Guardian, the Razus of Japhyr.

Atlas and I locked gazes. The love on his face melted me from the inside out.
Yes, wherever he goes, I’ll go.
Too often, I caught the worried glances she cast in my direction when she thought I wasn’t looking. The way she kissed and hugged me reeked of despair. My wife was afraid she’d lose me. I didn’t want to die, but above all, I didn’t want to leave her alone.
“You go in there, kick that thing’s ass, and come right back to me. Do you hear me, Atlas?”
“I hear you, my mate,” I replied tenderly. “My body, heart, and soul are yours, my Venus. I love you and intend to spend the rest of my life with you. Nothing, not even that radioactive Queen will keep me from coming back to you. Anyway, you owe me a guided tour of the galaxy. Don’t think I’ll give you an excuse not to make good on that promise.”
“I love you, too, Atlas. And you’ll find out that the best way to piss off a human woman is to ruin her travel plans by being a no show. So get your butt back here, or I’ll come get you myself. Deal?” “Deal,”
I’m coming back to you, my Venus.
A shiver coursed through me, and my skin erupted in goosebumps when he cupped my cheeks with both hands. My skin tingled under his touch as if a weak electric current emanated from his palms. Simultaneously, a strange warmth radiated from them, spreading through every cell of my body. Xarin leaned forward. For an insane second, I thought he was going to kiss me, but his face stopped barely inches from mine as he studied my features.
“My beautiful Prima,” Xarin said at last.
“For centuries, I longed for the one who would finally help my people open their eyes to what always lay before them. For generations, I searched for you. The moment I touched your soul on that star vessel, I knew I found the one.”
“No, my Venus. I didn’t know what the solution was, only that you would help bring it to light. You had the right mindset to understand the messages I sent you and the proper tools to take them to the next level. Thank you for saving my people, for exceeding all the expectations I had set on you, and for being the greatest blessing I could have ever given this generation and the future ones to come.”
Do not be sad, my Venus. I am happy.”
“Thank you for taking on the heavy burden I laid on your shoulders and leading the charge in our time of need. The purity of your soul called to me as strongly as your mate’s. Your strength, honor, determination, and selflessness made you the perfect champion to lead our people out of the darkness they were losing themselves in and back into the light,” Xarin said in a gentle voice filled with gratitude. Like he had done with me, he cupped Atlas’s face between his hands. I thought my man was going to cry so powerful was the emotion on his face. It wouldn’t have been tears of sorrow, but of a

Xarin returned his attention to Atlas. To my surprise, he took my left hand and placed Atlas’s right one on top of mine. “I entrust my Prima to you, Shaydwin. Take good care of her for me. Honor, protect, and love her,” Xarin said before turning to me. “I give you my Blessed, Venus. Cherish, guide, and love him. Together, you will bring hope, peace, and relief to many other worlds as you have done for us. Remember us fondly during your journey.”
I watched him fly away with conflicting emotions. It was odd as for the three months spent among them, I somewhat thought of Xarin as a child in my care, almost a son.
“My Venus,” I whispered. “You’re so beautiful. I love you so much.”
She blinked away the tears welling in her eyes and gave me a trembling smile. “I love you, too, Atlas. More than life itself.”
But all that mattered to me was the beautiful woman in my arms, my impossible dream, my soulmate, my love.
