I did just give head to a ghost. I guess I’ve fully accepted that I’m a freak.
I only came to tell you that you’re not alone. I know it can feel so lonely being different. But you’re not alone. Mina really wants to be your friend, and so do I.
Edward steps back and bows. His eyes rake over my body, barely holding back his hunger. “If you change your mind…” “I know where to find you.” I swallow down the urge to fall into his arms. “Goodnight, Brianna.” My full name on his lips sounds like a poem.
“Pax?” He pokes his head out, his face expectant. “Yes?” “What we did before…all this excitement…I just want you to know that…” “I am disappointed.” My heart thuds. He’s disappointed. Did I do something wrong? “Oh?” I hate how small my voice sounds. “I am disappointed,” he continues. “You made me come so hard that I saw the gods behind my eyelids, and then the birdie knocked on the window before I could return the favor.” Oh. Oh. “That’s okay,” I say quickly, my blood molten lava. “I mean, we probably shouldn’t be doing this stuff anyway. We’re playing with magic that we don’t understand…”

You don’t believe in ghosts, Kelly. Well, you’re about to.
“Yes,” Edward intones, making his voice wobble. He does sound quite fearsome. “We are the spectral servants of Bree. We pushed you into the pond the other night, and we’re here to tell you to stop hurting her or else…” Edward jams his hand into the electrical socket, and the lights go completely dead. “Aaaaaaaaah! Ghooooooosts!”
I’ve never loved you more. The words soak into my body like sunshine. I bask in them, the most beautiful words anyone has ever spoken to me.
Nothing is permanent. Not even death.
Pax. I found Pax’s grave. I can’t believe this. Never in a million years did I expect this to happen. Not only have I found Pax’s remains, but his men gave him a proper burial.
…if I show Pax this grave, I’ll never see him again.
He was never supposed to be here. He was always supposed to be in Elysium. Every second I’ve had with him has been a gift.
“Because for five years I’ve watched my brave, beautiful daughter explore the world, and she made me realize that all those things in life I wanted to do are still right here for me, if only I’m bold enough to take the first step.”
“Because of you, Bree-bug, I don’t see this diagnosis as the end of all good things. It just is. I’m not going to sit around lamenting the things I can’t do. I’ve had a full, beautiful life, and I’ve got so much more to enjoy.”
“I thought so. So tell Edward what it’s about, and I’ll order Pax to fix it, and he’ll stab whatever hurt you until it can’t hurt you anymore. He’s rather good at stabby, and I am rather good at ordering people around.”
Pax can’t fix it. He’ll never stab anything for me again.
“Of course you’re not normal, Bree Mortimer.” Edward’s voice drops to a register that stirs in my stomach and makes my toes curl. “You’ve never been normal. You’re extraordinary. You’re remarkable. Quite possibly enchanted.
“In my life, I could have my pick of women. Or men, when the mood took me. Queens, princesses, actresses, artists, they all fell at my feet for the chance to bed me.”
“And yet, you, Bree Mortimer, you’re the only one I ever truly wanted.” He called me Bree.
“No, no, Brianna,” he scolds me, those dark eyes rimmed in fire. “Don’t deprive a prince of the joy of unwrapping his present.”
He’s interrupted by a huge shape bowling through the wall and landing on top of him. Pax grabs Edward’s throat and slams him into the mirror with such rage that the glass cracks. Edward winces as Pax’s blade dances dangerously close to his eye. I can’t scream because Edward took my voice. “P-P-Pax?” “You’re upsetting her. I heard her crying. I will rip every not-bone from your body and use them to pick my teeth—” “Pax, look at her,” Edward gasps out. “She’s hardly upset, is she?” Pax turns to me. His eyes blow out as he sees me lying naked, the sheets tangled around me.
“We were in the middle of something.” Edward picks himself up and pulls his linen shirt back onto his shoulder. “You could join us, if Brianna agrees?”
The smile that bursts on Pax’s face could light the whole world.
Pax’s kiss is so different from Edward’s – they’re both experienced lovers, but Edward is all about enjoying himself, drawing out the pleasure until you’re a quivering mess of need. But Pax kisses the way he does everything else – with single-minded savagery. And I am here for it.
“What’s going on?” Ambrose asks nervously. “What’s going on, my dear friend, is that I have removed Bree’s garments, laid her down upon the bed, and drank in her exquisite pussy until she quivered beneath me,” Edward says in that insouciant tone of his. “And now, I believe you and Pax have some things you’d like to do to her.”
“I told you she tastes amazing, friend,” Edward coos, his fingers playing with the ends of Ambrose’s hair. Ambrose keeps going, alternating lighter strokes of his tongue with hard and heavy, leading me right to the edge and then pulling back so my legs quiver with the need for release. I can’t believe he’s never done this before.
“Can we even do this?” I ask. “Can ghosts and Livings…” “We’re going to find out.” “Me first,” Pax growls. “Why do you get to go first? I’m the prince. I should go first—” “I’ve never done this before,” Ambrose says. “I should go first so you can walk me through it—” “I’m the oldest,” Pax declares. “And I have a sword. It will be hard for you to pleasure Bree if I cut off your verpa.”
“It won’t work.” Edward’s voice wavers with distress. “I do not care!” Pax declares. I yelp as he grabs me around the waist and flips me down on my back on the bed. “By Jupiter’s blue balls, I have waited thousands of years for a woman like Bree. I won’t waste a moment of this night lamenting what we cannot do.” And with that, he dives between my legs again.
“Lovey, I’ll always be with you. Not even death can separate us. I’m your man for eternity.” Wow.
Every moment I’ve had with him has been a gift.
