The soldier’s legs kicked wildly, scrambling to find purchase against the air. He screamed as his body contorted violently, spine twisting and limbs bending backward. There was a sickening crunch, and the man’s body hung limply in the air. A moment later, the dead soldier’s heart burst forth through layers of armor and flesh and soared into Declan’s outstretched palm.
“I want to savor you.”
If friendly affection was all she ever desired from me as a husband, that was what I would gladly give her. She was a ray of pure sunlight beaming down from the heavens to thaw my icy heart and broken soul. I’d do anything to keep her happy and at my side.
“I want you to look at me when you come apart, Roselyne.” His voice was stern, with no trace of humor. His dark eyes bore into me. “I want you to look into my eyes when you come, and I want you to know who did this to you.”
“Every day I wake up without you beside me, and I mourn. I’ve tried to stay away, tried to guard my heart against your charm, but I cannot do it any longer. I can barely stand to look at you, knowing you do not suffer to feel the same way I do.”
“Declan Danchev, King of the Seelie Fae, if you believe me unstained and pure, this is a formal plea begging for you to ruin me. For now that I’ve known you, and had parts of you, I know for certain I cannot live without you. If that is what it takes to have you in earnest, please, corrupt my body and soul, for I see exactly who you are, and I will not run away. You are who I want, and who I choose.”
“I intend to wrench every ounce of pleasure from your body and leave you limp and languid and ruined for anyone else.”
