“You’re mine, Charleigh Lowe.”
“You don’t have to run anymore, Charleigh. You can rest in me.”
Hell, I was pretty sure she’d stolen mine, too. Ripped it right out of my chest.
This woman the blood in my veins.
Sovereign Sanctum had been born. A secret society that got women and children to safety.
“Melanie Castro and her son were delivered safely,” Otto said, raking his massive hands through his hair as he rocked his chair back on two legs, concern still written all over his face. It was a rough one.
“How could it be too fast if I’ve been waiting on you my entire life?”
I barely peeked at my sister from out of the corner of my eye since I couldn’t look away from my girl. “She’s always irresistible.”
I felt free. Free for the first time in so many years.
I buried my face in her hair and muttered, “Think you’ve become the motivation, Little Runner. You changed everything. Every. Fucking. Thing.”
“Because I love you. I’m so fucking in love with you. So caught up I can’t see a future where you don’t exist in it. I can’t imagine a day that I wake up without you in my arms. You fuckin’ struck me the first time I saw you, Charleigh. Pierced me all the way through. Stole some part of me when I inked myself on you. But you have all of me now. If you want it. If you’ll take it.”
He pulled me all the way to him until our noses were an inch apart, and he uttered, “It’s you and me, Charleigh. From here to eternity.”
It’s you and me from here to eternity. My spirit hummed. It was going to be us. All of us.
And I pressed my lips to her temple and murmured, “Don’t leave, Little Runner. Don’t leave. Run back to me.”
“Don’t worry, Little Runner. We’ve got from here to eternity.”
