“This is great, Doc. Thanks for bringing me here.” I frown. “I didn’t. I’ve asked you to leave. Multiple times.”
“It’s okay to love your darkness and still love yourself. It doesn’t make you a bad person. It makes you a whole one.”
“I don’t think he’s just going to magically die on your treadmill, Rose.” “A girl can dream.”
“Text me when you’re about half an hour from being done. I’ll come get you. And don’t make too many people shit themselves tonight. Cleanup would be a bitch.” Rose winks. “I thought you wanted me to have fun.” “Mayhem in moderation.” “That’s boring.”
My Rose blooms in the dark. And all I want is to grow there with her.
“Do you really think I would ever, ever let you threaten her and walk away? Do you seriously think you could hurt her, and I would just let you live? You don’t deserve mercy.
“You know what they say about the circus.” “What, that the show must go on?” “No. That the show can’t begin until you jump.”
Because the truth is, after so many years of trying to out-perform expectations, I think I need a minute to stand back and simply exist.
