“I thought I spoke pretty clearly. You’ve spent the entire night berating your own staff, and quite honestly, I’m sick of it. So let me say this nice and slow for you. Do. Not. Talk. To. Her. That. Way.”
Jude whistles. “Boss. Way to butter him up before he eats his meal, Lucy. I knew I liked you.” Cal rolls his eyes. “Do you really have to comment on every single thing?” This makes Jude beam. He nods. “Yes. And it’s the reason you stick with me. I do most of the talking while you do the brooding.”
“Don’t talk about my brother when I’m seconds away from finally kissing you after I’ve been thinking about doing it for days…maybe even weeks.”
Dolores shakes her head before she looks at me. “You seemed very interested in what Lucy likes to purchase and how often she’s here to be the one doing her a favor.” I cough, not expecting to be called out. I go head-to-head with some of the most powerful men in the world and don’t bat an eye. Why is this woman who’s old enough to be my grandmother the one who’s able to catch me off guard?
“I want to buy you expensive things, Lucy. What’s the point in having an ungodly amount of money if I can’t spend it on the first woman to capture my attention like this?”
“I know you’re not used to it, but I want to change that. You deserve to be spoiled, Lucy Rae. Will you do me a favor and let me be the one to do it?”
