He chuckles, picking his own fork back up. “She does listen to me after all. Good girl.”

“Although,” Lucy begins, looking around at the crowd of people who’ve gathered around us, “I didn’t know this was a couples tournament. I thought you just needed a caddy.”

“I think I like golf more than I thought I would,” I offer before looking over at Cal. We’re about an hour into the charity golf event and have only been able to play two holes.

“I don’t know if I’d describe your company as excellent, but what I meant was I understand why people like golf.”

“I did it!” she yells excitedly, her arms waving in the air as she looks ahead of her.
