“Why are you so hardened? Who hurt you so badly that you had to put a shell over yourself?”
“We’re alive, London. Remember moments like this to remind yourself of that. We survived that plane crash, and we will survive this island. You’ll be back to writing your news stories in no time.”
“Why is your little heart racing so badly, baby? Do I scare you?”
“And tomorrow,” he continues his soft whisper, “I am going to build you and me our own shelter so I can keep you warm every night while we’re here.”
“I can see the way he looks at you, London. Just remember though, baby, Micah doesn’t do feelings the way I do. When you fuck him, make sure you don’t fall for him.”
A lone wolf like Micah, I realize, and here I always thought he was an alpha.
“I’m addicted to you, London, and not in a good way. My addictions aren’t healthy, they never were. I was addicted to her, too, but I never loved her. I only said that to hurt you.
“She was never that person for me, and you can’t be, either. You need to go back to Maison; he’s the better twin. I’ll just end up destroying you. I can’t be who you need me to be, the loving fucking boyfriend Maison is. It’s not who I am.”
“For once, I need someone to choose me, to make me feel like I’m fucking worthy of being on this earth.
“I already chose,” I whisper to myself in a sob, but he’s already gone. I already chose you, Micah.
Please, for anyone who may read this, make sure the world knows that Micah is the true hero on this island, and not the cause of what happened here. Because… I think this pretty little island is going to kill me.
“Micah, I love you. I chose you. I was going to choose you. Even if you don’t feel the same way, I want you to know it was always you. But I’m not Olivia; I can never be what she was to you.”
“If you knew how much I fucking love you, London, it would scare the living shit out of you. It would tear you to shreds. I know I don’t deserve you, but you’re mine now. No one else matters but you.”
