but in the end we all want that kind of connection with someone. To feel seen, to be unashamedly bare with someone like they’re a different piece of yourself. To see someone through their worst, to admire their flaws. Not having to question why they are the way they are.
My own mother decided I wasn’t worth it before giving me the chance to prove myself to her or to the world. I didn’t want to be a number anymore. A boy surrounded by countless other boys who shared the same doom. I learned to move and accept myself for myself, I tortured myself into independence.
“I need help. . . I didn’t have anywhere else to go.” He said breathlessly.
