“Not a question you should ask a man like me without addin’ some caveats.” “Does a man like you know what ‘caveats’ even means?” I retorted sweetly, batting my lashes. He laughed and damn him because it was a gorgeous sound, rolling and low.
“What’s your name?” “What’s yours?” “Called Boner by my friends,” he said, so straight-faced I wondered if he could actually be serious about it. “But pretty girls call me Aaron until they learn why I earned that nickname for themselves.”
“Fine, I don’t sleep with bikers.” “Blue baby, the way I do it, there’s no sleepin’ involved at all.”
“You might see me and this place as dangerous. As criminal. Maybe you’re right. But I’m also the same guy who took your hand when you needed help, and I learned that from the people in that clubhouse, Blue. I learned how to love like the best’a them ’cause my brothers and their families taught me what it means to be a man who protects his kin, who fights to the death for what he feels is right, and who won’t change for anyone.
“I may be a dangerous man, but I’m the one in danger here. You walk out on me, that’ll ache in a way I’ve never ached ’fore.
He kissed me like a reverent scholar learning an ancient text, testing the texture of my tongue against his, mapping the edge of my teeth and the vibration of the moans that seeped unbidden from my throat.
“The only way I’m ruinin’ this is by tryin’ to ruin you for other men. I’m thinkin’ you should be mine alone.”
“You’ll find good people, you’re open to lookin’ beyond the surface.”
“You feelin’ neglected, Blue, I have a mind to show you just how affectionate I can be.” “I think you just did,” she teased with a charmin’ kinda reluctance. I grinned wolfishly. “I don’t mind givin’ you another reminder.”
Fuck, but I wanted Blue to look at me like that. Like I’d hung the damn moon in the sky just for her enjoyment.
“Givin’ sore loser a new meanin’ if you’re talkin’ about ridin’ me ’til I can’t feel my legs.”
“The kinda love that redefines what it means to be alive is the kinda love that doesn’t come cheap. You gotta earn it, man, and sometimes that means bein’ patient, and sometimes that means fightin’ for it. If you really think Blue’s that woman for you, you gotta trust that you’ll see her again and ’til then gotta live life knowin’ she’d want you to be happy. Maybe that’s why she left in the first place.”
“The kinda love I got for you is electric. It lights up my soul and vibrates my bones. I can’t fucking live without it. Without you,” Aaron whispered in my ear before kissing my neck. “Never wanna know what it’s like to go back to a life without your light.”
