“God, I love making your dreams come true,” he says, cupping my cheek. “There’s nothing better in life than being the reason behind your smile. Nothing at all.”
“Let me watch you paint,” I tell her. “You’re always beautiful, but when you’re painting, you’re fucking otherworldly.”
“If you must know, we didn’t even get any ice cream. Every store we went to was closed, so we just ended up walking around for a bit before heading home.” I smirk, entirely too fucking pleased with myself for buying every single ice cream parlor in a five-mile radius so I could close them all for the day and shut that tradition of theirs down. It’s clear having ice cream with him was going to mess with her emotions, and it wasn’t going to happen on my watch.
“Tell me why. You don’t even like ice cream, Archer. Why would you buy my favorite ice cream chain and the coffee shop too?” My heart begins to race, a hint of panic running down my spine. Because I want to make sure you always have access to anything you want, whenever you want. Because I need to know that any time of the day, I can get you your favorite ice cream and make you smile.
