Suddenly, Hector spoke: “You know how they say, when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time?” He kept his eyes locked on Isaias. His voice was level, his gaze inscrutable.
Hector was normally steady; strong. He was Isaias’s rock. Isaias ears still rung softly, echoes of terror that weren’t quite fading, leaving Isaias shaken and unable to ignore the disquiet from Hector’s unsteadiness. He would hear those screams in his dreams and had to wonder if that was what Hector’s fear sounded like.
