“You’re a Mind Reader, and a Controller.”
But the Healer’s life was swiftly ended after he stumbled upon a secret meant solely for kings.
The queen’s eyes widen on me. “If that is true, then the king died thinking that you…” “That I was his greatest failure?”
“But Elites should not be confined to this city; they should populate every kingdom. And when I rule over every realm on our maps”—Kitt
Hey buddy it’s not a bad idea to have them integrate elsewhere but that’s not your prerogative, there’s diplomatic patience involved in something like this. It’s hard for me to believe that it wasn’t Calum who was making him crazy. I also have my suspicions about that other dude Easel (which is another dumb name btw)
“The Plague didn’t just happen to Ilya.” Kitt grins. “It was made for Ilya.”
The Enforcer thrusts that stoker toward the king, his broad back blocking my view. I wait for the answering sound of steel. I wait longer. Time grows sluggish.
Kai rushes to his brother, voice choked. “No! You were supposed to dodge, Kitt!”
“I did care for you. I—I don’t want to be a monster.” My hands cup Kitt’s face, turning it toward my stern one. “Hey, I am the monster. Not you, all right?”
Bummed tbh that she made this his fate when the brother-sister thing could’ve been enough to get out of their marriage. She could’ve married Kai and it would’ve been more than enough for diplomacy
“I haven’t felt right for… a while. I don’t… remember. But I’m scared, Kai.”
But the king, dear Edric, will never know the truth behind that rose on Iris’s jewelry box.
She knows this game. And Kit loves it.
